The Kamanyang Players is a dramatic guild founded by Lenore Gomez Palma in 1968 to encourage (dramatic) arts in the Philippine College of Commerce (PCC), an educational institute strictly devoted to business. PCC changed its name and since the early seventies, the college has been known as Polytechnic University of the Philippines – a testament to the growing demand for graduates of the college.
The word kamanyang is a vernacular word for 'incense' used to pay homage.
Its maiden performance was a professional stage production in 1968 of Ang Mananayaw, based upon Alberto Florentino’s one-act play entitled The Taxi Dancers.
